Shukk - The REAL End

False alarm, false alarm, false alarm.  What was promoted as the last episode (last week) was, in fact, the 2nd last episode.  So what we all believed was an incomplete, incredibly heart-wrenching ending was actually just the end of a normal episode.  Haha.  Now let's discuss the REAL end of this show.

Were 30 episodes necessary to tell this story?  Looking back, yes, the last 5-6 episodes were tedious and really felt prolonged/dragged out.  However, after finally watching this Saturday's episode (April 26), I now feel the "slow" nature of the show was necessary.  Yasir Nawaz is definitely not a dimwit - he knew exactly what he was doing and proved once again that he's an amazing director.

Over the last several months, we've seen train wreck after train wreck with the marriages of Ehtesham-Sehrish, Ali-Sania and, of course, Sehrish-Ehtesham-Sania.  While team lines were drawn between the fans in the form of Team Sania and Team Sehrish, neither side was right or wrong.  It was all about perspective, which made the arguments and debates that much more interesting.  The beauty of this show was that it projected a realistic situation - one that showed that there isn't black and white in real life.  Everything is grey.  Sehrish wasn't evil, but was definitely mislead into destroying her own home.  Sania was the furthest thing from a home-wrecker, but found herself in a situation where she was viewed as one by the world.  Ehtesham was not an unfaithful husband, but "shukk" brought him to a place where he was bouncing between his loyalties to two women.  And that was the beauty of Shukk, a show where there isn't right and wrong, but rather a distinct picture of what happens when "Shukk" enters the life of a married couple.

On to the actual episode:

I think what was brilliant about this episode was the incredibly HONEST depiction of Ehtesham & Sehrish trying to bring normalcy back to their lives.  We see Ehtesham trying to be a good husband again and be faithful in his marriage to Sehrish, despite his discomfort being with her.  We see Sehrish struggling with her dissatisfaction towards her present situation, despite finally having Ehtesham "back."  Yasir Nawaz doesn't leave us in the dark with only acting to depict this - we are privy to the inner thoughts of both Ehtesham and Sehrish, which really strikes a chord.

I think one of the best moments in this drama was the scene where Sehrish runs away to the coffee shop, because she feels haunted by the memories of Sania and Rumi in "her home," which no longer feels like her own.

On the other end, we see Sania desperately trying to cope in a life without Ehtesham.  She's trying to finally be independent and live for only her son.  However, Rumi's attachment to Ehtesham isn't so easy to break and he falls ill.  It is then that we witness the most eye-opening scene of this show:  a Sania-Sehrish showdown.

Sania calls Sehrish to pass on a message to Ehtesham:  She wants him to explain to Rumi that they can no longer live together and to say goodbye to him.  Instead, Sehrish herself shows up.  Sehrish accuses Sania of using her son to keep Ehtesham in her life, while Sania rebuffs that she hasn't made any contact with Ehtesham since leaving home.  It's here that we hear what we already felt:  Sehrish tells Sania that she no longer loves Ehtesham.  Rather than fighting for Ehtesham, she was fighting for her home, because that was her place and that was her right.  She made it clear that she cannot love Ehtesham because she cannot respect the man that put her in this situation.  What was so great about this scene?  We're suddenly made aware of how dire the circumstances have become.  The great sacrifice that Sania was making was putting Ehtesham in a loveless marriage with a woman who despised him.  And really, who could blame Sehrish?  She may have created her own circumstances, but the fact remained that those circumstances had become unbearable.

Sania takes Rumi to Ehtesham to have his final "goodbye."  It's here that we witness a beautiful scene between Sehrish and Rumi.  I think this scene was necessary to depict that Sehrish was NOT a bad person.  She herself became a victim due to her "shukk" and caused her own downfall in her marriage.  Her heart-warming scene with Rumi showed her soft side and that she realized that he needed Ehtesham in his life - and realized where that left her in the equation.

The final scene was a beautiful one that really put the entire show into perspective.  We see an apologetic Sehrish who has now realized the long-term effects of her Shukk.  She realizes now that had she trusted her husband, she never would have found herself in this predicament.  She wishes Ehtesham & Sania well and willingly removes herself from the picture in a very heart-wrenching way.

"Main us insaan ke saath nahin reh sakti jisse main ab janti nahin hoon.
Yeh woh Ehtesham nahin hai jis se maine shaadi ki thi aur nah main woh Sehrish hoon jis se is ne shaadi ki thi.
Humein waqt ka paya palat ke waapas udhar hi jaana hoga jahan se kahaani kharaab hui thi aur yeh namumkin hai.  Issliye mera yahan rehna bhi namumkin hai.

Jo mera Ehtesham tha, woh meri shukk ki wajjah se kahin chala gaya.  Aur ab yeh jo Ehtesham hai, yeh sirf tumhara hai."

In these words, we finally reconnect with Sehrish's humanity, which had been missing for so long.  We see the good human being in her once again and, more than anything, we want a good life for her again.

Special mention has to be made to the acting team of Shukk, namely Adeel, Sanam and Ayesha.  Each of these three characters were so complex, but did such an incredible job of portraying their characters that I found myself feeling sorry for each and every one of them.  I didn't want Sehrish to be left empty-handed, despite her own role in ruining her marriage.  I didn't want Sania to have to deal with Sehrish's taunts because she was a good person, despite coming into another woman's home.  I didn't like seeing Ehtesham, the once ideal husband, torn between two women, despite his own actions causing the present situation.  Had Ehtesham handled Sehrish's shukk with more understanding rather than ego, maybe the present scenario would've never happened.  But at the same time, you feel for him - as the perfect husband, he was always supportive of his wife, madly in love with her and never did anything that would cause her grief.....so why was she suspecting him?  These three actors deserve a round of applause.

Regardless of which side you were on, whether it be Team Sania or Team Sehrish (yes, I was definitely team Sania), Shukk taught us a lesson.  Sometimes we, as Pakistani women, think it's our right to keep our husbands on a leash, suspect them and keep an eye on their every move.  Sometimes we need to understand that while you shouldn't trust blindly, trust is the most important, basic foundation for any relationship.  And without trust, your marriage loses its strength.

Now after that public service announcement (haha), I hope you all enjoyed this show as much as I did.  Goodbye "Shukk."  Thanks for entertaining us over the last few months.  This is a show I will definitely miss.

Happy watching!

Lyricist: Irshad Kamil
Release Date: 25th April, 2014
Language: Hindi
Duration: 2 hours 31 minutes

The Plot:
Kaanchi- The Unbreakable, a romantic-musical thriller, a much awaited movie of Subhash Ghai after a gap of five years (last movie was Yuvvraaj). Story of an ordinary girl Kaanchi from a village Koshampa (a village for army men) in Uttrakhand. It is about her grit, determination, courage to even question the system in her own manner. Subhash Ghai has gone for the blend of Romance with other issues viz. Patriotism, Political leaders’ ruthless / shrewd ways, corruption, even business leaders laying down the rules of the business, black money, helplessness of the common man facing unresponsive bureaucracy and government etc.

The movie opened with Sub-Inspector Ratanlal Bagula (Chandan Roy Sanyal – Oh, I loved him in this movie, excellent work, refer the ‘Cast and their Performance’ header below) being questioned by a few Police officers and mainly by an investigation officer Arun Roy (Adil Hussain). Bagula is asked about the whereabouts of Sigdi Aka Kaanchi (Indrani Chakraborty, renamed by Subhash Ghai as Mishti). Arun asks Bagula to tell him the ‘truth behind the truth’. The story unfolds with his narration.

Koshampa is a village of retired army men and their families, in Uttarkhand and the heroine of the village is none other than Kaanchi. She stands for ‘what is right’ and Mr. Ghai has even projected her as giving abuses to men, if men trouble her, projected her fiery temperaments, never-compromising attitudes. Proud of her martyr father’s legacy, Kaanchi swaggers around wearing the thick khaki belt which was a part of her father’s military uniform.

Kaanchi is in love with Binda (Karthik Aaryan – Pyar ke Panchnama & Akaash Vani fame). Binda runs a Military Training School. He has three major philosophies:

  1. Fear no evil
  2. Do what is right
  3. Fight for what is right.

There are definitely wonderful moments of love and teasing between Binda and Kaanchi (minus ‘Jhand’, ‘Jhalli’ etc.). Then the entry of Kakda(s) in Koshampa: Politician Shyam Kakda (Mithun Chakraborty) and his businessman brother Jhumar Baba Kakda (Rishi Kapoor) and Sushant Kakda (Rishabh Sinha – Qubool Hai- Zee TV serial fame and in this movie, son of Shyam Kakda). Binda is fighting a court case against Kakda(s) for their land of Koshampa. Kakdas want to buy this Koshampa village for their Koshampa Vally Infrastructure project.

Sushant Kakda, an artist, (and in his words he is unlike his dad and uncle), happens to meet Kaanchi with whom he falls in love. Sushant’s humbleness and Kaanchi’s simplicity and beauty bring them closer. Sushant gets miffed up on being rejected by Kaanchi, which made him an obsessive beast (overnight!!!).

Kaanchi gets a major setback / blow in her life, and she becomes a witness to her own miseries. But Kaanchi doesn’t mourn, she just gets up, moves ahead and reaches Mumbai at Ratanlal Bagula’s (her childhood acquaintance and senior in school) house and seeks support from him. Now it is Kaanchi vs. Kakda (s). What ensues is to be seen.

How the story moves further? What actually made  Kaanchi to stand against Kakda (s)? Does Bagula join her journey ? Who all becomes partners to Kaanchi’s journey ? What is the motive of Kaanchi ?   Does her mission remains personal or it shifts gears to a wider arena – socio-political ? Does she get to see success in her efforts ? We generally sing Sare Jahan se acha Hindustan humara – is it really so ? Or we need to sing Sare Jahan se acha ‘hoga’ Hindustan humara ? Is it all about women empowerment and an ode to new-age womanhood ?

 Official Trailer:
Director:

Director Subhash Ghai definitely does things in a style. And there are lot of Subash Ghai moments in the movie, right from introducing the main protagonist of the movie Kaanchi to adding glitz, glamour and some typical bollywood masala of item number. Kaanchi is well handled by him. I just wished, he could have added moments of more romance of Binda and Kaanchi, but then, he had to do justice to 2.5 hrs of the movie.  Dialogues could have been much better. Overall a good effort by Mr. Ghai.

Cast and their Performance:
The very first actor whom I want to mention is Chandan Roy Sanyal as Ratanlal Bagula. Absolute delight to watch him. He is good, funny, and has done complete justice to his pliable character. He did bring lot of smiles to my face.

Mishti aka Indrani Chakraborty as Kaanchi aka Sigdi, is good. Looks extremely beautiful in certain scenes. But I think, she looked too soft to ill mouth. Her innocent look did not support certain scenes. And her voice cracked when she went on a emotional high or shouted. And in certain scenes, her struts did not look very impressive. But given the fact that, Kaanchi is  this Bengali Model’s first movie, we shall appreciate her. A ‘Mishti’ performance.

Kartik Aaryan as Binda is good. I wish, he had a few more frames. At times, he also went loud, but definitely his screen presence is worth a mention.

Rishabh Sinha as Sushant Kakda is also good. I loved him when he played an artist in the movie. I think, he has yet to break his shayari-spouting image of Qubool Hai, but a great work from him in this movie.

Now, about the veterans, Mithun Chakraborty as Shyam Kakda and Rishi Kapoor Jhumar Babu Kakda aka JB are definitely very very convincing and so beyond any comments. Mithun’s dialogue –  सब  पद्धति  से होना है (a planned approach for everything) is noticeable.

Other cast Adil Hussain as investigation officer Arun Roy, Pallavi Subash Chandran aka Pallavi Purohit (Savita Pathare, secretary of Shyam Kakda), Sahil Vaid (Satyakam, Jai Yuva Sangh activist), Meeta Vashisht (Mita, Jai Yuva Sangh activist) are also good.

Shakti Mohan & Neeti Mohan does an Item Song with Mahima Chaudhary giving a special appearance.

Music:
Music is composed by Ismail Darbar, Salim Sulaiman and one song by Mr. Ghai himself.

Songs from Ismail Darbar: Kaanchi Re Kaanchi (Sukhwinder Singh), the very first song is melodious. Tu sab Kuch Re (Sonu Nigam, Anwesha Datta Gupta, Ismail Darbar) is very good supported with good visuals. Koshampa (Aman Trikha, Sachita, Anweshaa, Subhash Ghai) has energy. Kaisa Hai Dard Mera (Ankit Tiwari) is also good. But Adiye Adiye (Sanchita & Avril Quadros) is just ok.

Song from Subhash Ghai: Main Mushtanda (Mika Singh & Aishwarya Majumdar)… Oh…the lyrics are crap.

Songs from Salim-Sulaiman: Thumka (Sonu Nigam and Suzane D’mello) has the energy, but somehow, just ok. Hindustan Kahan hai (Sukhwinder Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Raj Pandit), a patriotic number is with lot of energy, but sounds familiar, novelty is missing.

Item Song: Kambal ke Neeche – does Mr. Ghai want to create another Choli ke Peeche? But yes, need to mention about the three Mohan sisters: Neeti Mohan has sung this song along with Aishwarya Majumdar and Sanchita. And her two sisters Shakti and Mukti Mohan feature in this song. The split move shown by Shakti Mukti and  at the end of the song is good.

Cinematographer
The movie is shot at Shimla and Mumbai. Sudhir K Chaudhary has given some great visuals through this movie especially that of Koshampa.

Moments to watch out for:
  • Kaanchi’s indomitable spirit
  • Kaanchi’s relationship with her mother
  • Kaanchi’s strength as a female protagonist

Thumbs up:
Watch this movie if you love Subhash Ghai and also to understand the very spirit of Kaanchi.

Thumbs down:
Dialogues! Was it necessary to make Kaanchi ill mouth or say slangs ? Jhumar Baba’s fling with girls… not impressive. The character Kaanchi’s strength is tried to be justified through her training visuals at Military Training School of Binda but still, it is difficult to comprehend and believe that she survives her jump from a high point to deep river.

One-Liner:
‘Kaanchi – The Unbreakable’ is good to watch due to its ‘Unbreakable Spirit’...

Rating: 3 / 5 (Good)

Masala Republic Malayalam Movie Review

Mosayila kuthirameenukal Review

REVIEW : Follow The Cinema Company

Director Visakh G S comes up with Masala Republic, a film that has humour in the backdrop trying to present a satire but without a convincing script and storyline the makers have failed to put forth what they have intended to convey. A wafer thin plot has been given an exaggerated treatment and in the process what is in store for the viewers is a film without completeness.

Occasional funny moments and humorous situations do come and go but in totality those never make the film appealing and interesting.

The film begins well and promise much but sadly nothing happen beyond a stage. The film is focused on Shambhu who has been assigned to head the Anti Gutka Squad (AGS) to track and catch people selling pan masala and related products as a result of the ban imposed by the State Government for these products. Shambhu begins his tasks but the situations become too monotonous after a while to loose interest of the viewers in the proceedings on screen.

The story is presented giving focus to the migration workers coming to earn a living in Kerala from the eastern part of India. Certain things like taking a spoof on the Adhar Cards through Avakash Card, Local politician becoming minister through blackmailing, the Tele channel show to promote Chinese products and a few others have been presented well but as said earlier, in totality the film does not evoke interest beyond a particular point.

On the acting side, Indrajith as Shambhu was very lively but nothing to perform here for an actor of his calibre while Aparna Nair as the TV Reporter has nothing much to do.

Vinayakan as Bengali Babu, P Balachandran as the local politician, Mamukoya, Vinay Fort, Srindha Ashab, Shine Tom Chacko are the notable supporting casts who did their part quite well. Sunny Wayne appeared as Bada Bai, a cameo role while Captain Raju's character was totally out of place.

Coming to the technical side, camera work was ok but it was shaking at many places especially in the beginning. Lip movement and visuals didn't synchronise in couple of scenes in the initial stage. Also in one of the scene where a police officer is hiding behind a big tree, the tree was moving, making it clearly visible that the tree was a car board piece. Minute things like these should have been taken care of.

Songs by Jassie Gift was ok and jelled well with the visuals. The Bengali song shown during the start and end was worth hearing a second time. Again deliberate effort was made to fit songs especially the Shambhu item song and the other song where hero dances with the heroine.

Overall, Masala Republic promised much but does not meet the standards and I am going with a generous 2 / 5.

Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram Review

Mosayila kuthirameenukal Review
Ringmaster BOX OFFICE

REVIEW : Follow The Cinema Company

The makers of Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram have tried out their best to be different with the concept but fails in the attempt with a below average film. A feel good factor was created in the first half but the experimentation
in post intermission session fails to evoke much interest though the attempt is to be lauded.

Directed by Balaji Mohan as a bilingual with simultaneous release in Tamil, SAG had an interesting and novel plot but the script lacked the X factor to make the movie a fully engaging one, the result being a below average film that has some fine moments to entertain the viewers in parts only.

Humour is the backdrop adopted by the scenarist to narrate the story of Aravind (Dulquer), a salesman promoting Dr.Fix It, a brand of glue who aspire to become a Radio Jockey one day as he feel he can utilise his speaking skills to make it big in the industry. He meets Anjana (Nazriya), a doctor who likes to talk less, a character just the opposite of the male protagonist.

The story is set in Thenmala in Idukki district and a curious disease starts spreading in Thenmala. Rest of the plot focus more or less on this particular disease and how the political system of the State and local people of the area react to this situation. At the same time, the romantic side involving the hero and heroine is also touched upon but the prominence is more on the disease.

A totally novel concept has been wasted literally with an uninteresting narrative pattern and weak script. May be the Tamil version might work out with Tamil audiences as they are more receptive to new concepts compared to their Malayali counterparts who are a bit slow to accept too much of experimental stuffs.

Direction by Balaji Mohan is strictly on the average side. May be with a better script he would have been successful in presenting the plot in a much better way.

Acting wise, Dulquer excelled in his role as Aravind the salesman but post intermission session, and especially towards the end a tired look was reflecting from his face. Nazriya though had enough screen presence, acting wise there is not a single scene that could test her.

Among the supporting actors, Maniyanpilla Raju, Arjunan and Chemban Vinod were impressive while Madhubhala who is making a comeback of sorts didn't appear that comfortable.

Cinematography was well handled with each frame having a colourful and vibrant feel while editing department could have done a bit more work in trimming the film from the current duration of 143 minutes.

On the whole, SAG with least expectations might be a one time watchable affair for some and for others it will be a disappointing one and I belong to the second category. My rating is 2 / 5.

The Case of the Disappointing Endings

Time and time again, I watch a drama which starts off so promising and then, with a rushed/confused episode.....ends.....leaving me annoyed/horrified/unimpressed/sad at the lack of effort.  Four dramas came to an end over the last couple of weeks.  Sadly, all four were BEAUTIFUL dramas with great story lines, great acting and really good direction.  Why sadly?  Because they all ended on very unsatisfying notes.

Drama #1:  Meri Beti

This drama told the touching tale of a mother's desire for her daughter's happiness - so much so that she convinced her daughter Saba (Sabreen Hisbani) to remarry and hand over her own daughter (from her first marriage) to her, raising her granddaughter as her own daughter.  The story was told in a compelling way, showing the love between all three women - some unspoken, some spoken.  The emotions were real, the reactions were real and the characters felt like part of your family.

Then where did this drama go wrong?  The ending.  Our beloved Iraj is seen living in her mother's (grandmother) home alone, raising her daughter after finally forgiving Saba for abandoning her.  She's seen sharing a good relationship with her brother-in-law and siblings.  I wonder then why we couldn't have seen her family finding a good match for her, getting her remarried and really driving home the point that Saba didn't have to lie about Iraj - because there are people out there who will accept a woman AND her child.

Somehow the ending just didn't settle well with me and almost proved the point of Samina Peerzada in the beginning - that a woman with a child won't be accepted for marriage.

Drama #2:  Do Qadam Door Thay

This drama was not perfect.  In fact, the Darul Aman portions of this drama were TEDIOUS, mind-numbing and incredibly irritating.  However, the love story between Zohab and Nayab is so compelling and cute that you can't help watching to see what happens.

What was the real problem here?  The ending!  Was it unsatisfying?  No.  It was RUSHED.  We never see Zohab & Nayab happy in their home.  Instead, we simply see Nayab pull on Zohab's arm (as she had in the beginning) and drag him into the house.  It was almost as if the director had no idea how to close his final scene.  I wish there had been something more there, an additional scene or two.  That's all.  Otherwise, this drama is a pretty good one.

Drama #3:  Ru Baru

This drama boasts of a very interesting storyline, a great cast and some incredible acting from Faizan Khawaja.  Honestly speaking, there aren't any FLAWS in this drama.  As a whole, I really, truly did enjoy it.  I think it can be classified as one of the best dramas so far this year.

The only place I felt let down was the ending:

First of all, Shabbi and Sarmad should've been shown having some sort of heart-to-heart in order to carry their marriage forward.  This was very open-ended.

Second, Karamdeen and Uncle have been exposed as "drugging" Sarmad.  Yet we never see Shabbi actually TELL Sarmad about this, nor do we see Sarmad finally understand why he had these mood swings so often.  Justice was not served, which makes the entire thing very unimpressive.

And last:  Tipu and Kiran.  This was so UNFAIR.  Why does Kiran get another chance to make Tipu's life hell?  We see that absolutely NOTHING has changed other than the fact that Tipu now understands Kiran and has learned to ignore everything she says, therefore having a terribly unhealthy marriage with her yelling and him ignoring her.  What SHOULD have happened was that Tipu should have married Neha.  Honestly - what did that poor girl do to deserve being dumped TWICE?

That all aside, this was a very well-directed, well made drama with a good storyline.

And LAST:

I feel like I cried and cried over the last few weeks for this drama to just END.  I didn't literally mean just END!  I needed a logical ending!  This ending was absolutely miserable, incomplete and just very disheartening.

After all the misery Sehrish caused, she not only didn't realize that she had been wrong all along, she also ended up "with" Ehtesham while Sania ran away with Rumi, leaving not only herself alone once again, but once again leaving Rumi without his father.  While the final scene of "payback" of sorts was a good WHAM! moment with Ehtesham showing Sehrish his password ("Sania"), it was not justice enough to be a satisfying ENDING.

On the other end, there has been much speculation as to whether or not episode 29 actually WAS the final episode.  Many are saying that episode 30 will actually be the final episode, but there isn't any confirmation of this online.  If that's the case, I guess we'll find out on Saturday when there is or isn't a new episode!  But overall, Shukk started off on an incredible note and continued that level of greatness throughout episode 23.  It was only episode 24 and onwards that the show began to get repetitive and, really, the viewers simply lost sight of what the end would and should be.  Despite that, Yasir has done a great job with direction and all three actors involved have done incredible justice to their characters.

That's it for now!  Happy watching!

5 Biggest Disappointments of 2013

We are listing down the biggest disappointments in the year 2013 which includes the deaths of eminent personalities from Malayalam cinema industry, flops of last year, biggest let downs etc

1) Deaths of our greatest artists and technicians

Some of the actors and actresses who passed away include our beloved Sukumari Chechi, Actor Augustine, Ottapalam Pappan, Joseph Chacko and Hakim Rawther. Veteran Filmmaker K Sukumaran died due to illness in the month of June. Our lose in the field of music include two legendary music directors V Dakshinamoorthy and Raghavan Master. The renowned Hindustani musician Sarathchandra Marathe and playback singer Usha Ravi also passed away this year.

2) Flops from Mohanlal paired with popular directors

Drishyam is the only hit of Mohanlal this year, but Drishyam is one of the best movies of this year. Mohanlal had a bad run throughout this year until the release of Drishyam thus bringing him back to the race. But the flops of Mohanlal when paired with Joshiy, Priyadarshan and Siddeque was one of the biggest setbacks to the cinema lovers this year. Lokpal which saw the successful combo Mohanlal-Joshiy back again but ended up as a disaster. Ladies and gentleman was much hyped as it was a long awaited rejoining of Mohanlal and director Siddeque. Priyadarshan also gave big blow when he made a sequel to Manichithrathazhu as Geethanjali which he should have never done.

3) Multi Starrers
Multi Starrer films are not new to the Malayalam film industry. But last year, most of the multi starrer movies including Kammath and Kammath, Red Wine and D Company disappointed all of us. Kammath and Kammath which brought Dileep and Mammootty together, though was a huge commercial success but didn't entertain as expected. Red Wine starring Mohanlal, Fahadh faasil and Asif Ali was expected to be a top notch investigative thriller. D Company which had almost all the best young talents of Malayalam industry also became a flop.

4) Flops from eminent directors and writers

When some established directors and writers comes up with disastrous movies, it is really difficult to get on. Ranjith, whom we consider to be one of the best in the industry right now, came up with a totally lazy attempt Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty. Another popular director VK Prakash had three flops in a row this year including Natholi Cheriya Meenalla, Thank You and Silence. VKP cannot excuse from the bad direction in case of Thank You, though the latter two were better in that terms. Anoop Menon who is known for his skillful script writing, but was surprised with the movie Hotel California. Next is Pattam Pole, it was rumored that Azhagappan was working on the script for about two and a half year but the movie had nothing new to offer.

5) Unfortunate Hits and Flops

Some movies like Shutter, Artist, Kunjananthante Kada are destined to fare poorly in the box office as money mayn't be the prime motive behind these movies. But there are many unfortunate hits and flops in our industry caused due to several factors. Unfortunate Hits include almost every Dileep starrer including Sringaravelan, Sound Thoma etc as they don't deserve it. Wondering what would be the situation if CID Moosa, Parakkum Thalika etc gets released now. Unfortunate Flops include 5 Sundarikal, Left Right Left. The bold contents in Left Right Left has backfired and severely affected the movie.
